“Don’t test my patience.
Every single second is like nothing without you….. Return as you had promised…..if not this way, then that way….. But return for I await with open arms for your arrival my beloved…”
” Go Mac , I will be fine ….I promise”. she whispered, I was reluctant but the meeting was also very important, Sara had been suffering from lung cancer for over two years, this was her final stage and we were in the hospital, I recieved an urgent call from the head office and was called for a meeting , I was the Director and it was easy for me to cancel but Sarah wouldn’t hear of it…or let me say I was looking for a reason to leave because I couldn’t bear to see her shrivel right before my eyes, I had to get away. I held her hand for the longest time possible, she weakly smiled at me , ” I will return if at all you don’t find me when you come….just be patient, I will come back” she whispered and despite being weak , she gave me her best smile, I turned my face away to hide my tears, then I stood up and kissed her forehead, it was ice cold, my heart sank but I put up a brave face and bid her farewell….it was the last of her that I saw….
” Mac?”….my sister’s voice brought me out of thoughts…”ummh” I responded , I looked around the cremation ground, all the people had slowly started walking away, it was just me and My sister Poonam. ” We have to leave ” she whispered, her voice was shaky… I didn’t feel like leaving , but Poonam pulled me , she had a pot of ashes in her hands that she handed over… apparently it seemed like I had spaced out for hours , I sighed …I hugged my sister hard but I couldn’t cry, not a single drop of tears, my heart was calm, I loved Sarah and I knew no one would replace her ever….because she had told me to be patient, she would return and those words kept ringing in my ears.
Poonam and I walked to the car, I gave her the keys because I was in no state to drive…..
Cheribie was walking to the other side of the road when suddenly a wave of dizziness hit her hard, for a moment she froze and then she fell to the ground….” Phewks finally I found shelter again!!” A female voice whispered…. Cheribie sat up and blinked , she felt heavier and different as if she wasn’t alone…
” Chill cherribie …. Its me” a soft voice whispered, Cheribie looked around, there was no one, so who had whispered????
